Designed For Joy Porch Party
Joy-n Us On The Porch
The Designed For Joy Porch Party began as a unique opportunity to boost sales during the COVID-19 Pandemic. It evolved into a novel platform for our volunteers and friends to share the Designed For Joy mission with their friends and family. With the sunny spring weather in full swing, it’s an even better chance to provide volunteer and community service that helps vulnerable women in Raleigh. Now is the time, and here are some reasons to consider becoming a host.
Simple Process For A Great Get Together
Over the years, we’ve honed the setup to make it easy and fun for anyone to host, with a chance to put your creativity into the event.
- Fill out the interest form and select your date at the form below.
- With the help from DFJ staff, choose product lines from two options: best sellers and/or newest products.
- Decide on where you'll host the party, such as at your house or in the Designed For Joy studio. Continue reading for more examples.
- Open your box full of goodies to review items and watch a quick video to help set up the display, signage, social media prompts, etc. We recommend posting event information on your social media profiles two weeks before your event, then again three days and the day before your event.
You select the date and we set you up with the essentials, and we’re readily available to answer any questions. There are no sales goals and no cash sales. Guests shop directly from their phones.
Next-Level Your Next Occasion
The porch isn’t the only location to hold your event. You can take the porch with you, so to speak. Host poolside, on your deck, in your garage, use your community clubhouse, or even host it in your office break room. Give your next birthday party or girls’ night out a particular purpose, and instead of receiving gifts, ask friends and family to purchase with purpose to help women in crisis. We’ve had hostesses hold a porch party along with their holiday cookie exchange and over brunch.
“The Designed For Joy Porch Party was the perfect occasion to bring new and old friends together! It was a fun addition to our quarterly clothing swap and wine night event, where we exchange gently used clothing and home goods, then donate items left over. The pop-up was a breeze to set up, and my guests enjoyed shopping for the unique and quality designs DFJ has to offer. The earrings and decorative home goods were a huge hit. I look forward to hosting one again in the future." - Angelique Bolding, Designed For Joy Volunteer |
Tips For Gathering Guests
Consider co-hosting with a friend and combining your book or garden clubs to meet at the studio. Or go entirely online and arrange for a Facebook/Meta Live sale for your porch party. We can ship anywhere in the U.S.
Box Full of Goodies
We provide props, products, a guide, and an on-call staff member to answer any questions. We also include special signage to post in your neighborhood and social media prompts and images for your personal social media sites to advertise your party.
Choose products to display from our Best of DFJ collection that includes mix-and-match handbags, fabulous tote bags, and jewelry, or you can show products from our new Classic Collection—but you don’t have to choose just one—you can display both options.
Every hostess receives $100 in product credit and every guest gets 10% off their purchase. (Feel free to share your code with out-of-town friends to shop online!)
A Means To Our Mission
Host a Designed For Joy Porch Party and join our mission to provide a chair for every woman in crisis to earn a living wage through a safe, dignified job. Thanks to friends like you, we hire women who are now free from human trafficking, substance abuse, religious persecution, and other traumatic, life-altering forms of bondage.
If you like the idea of giving back to your community, but long-term volunteering is a time-commitment issue, consider hosting a porch party and host how you’re most comfortable. You pick the day and the time, we set you up with a fabulous product display and promotional items, and all the funds go right back into helping women in crisis in your community. What’s keeping you? “Joy-n us on the porch.”
