Designed For Joy is on mission to provide women in crisis with stability through immediate employment and support, removing the stigma of vulnerability. Since its start in 2017, Designed For Joy's employment programs have provided more than 24,000 hours and over $400,000 in living wages.

Did you know that 100% of our artisans are living below the poverty line? These are women who have emerged from homelessness, time in prison, trafficking, substance abuse, and other vulnerable situations. Currently, 65% of our artisans are either experiencing homelessness or residing in women's shelters.

Designed For Joy is proud to offer two employment programs: the flagship Primary Job Program and the recently launched Day Work Program. Both of these programs provide dignified employment opportunities and a supportive community.

Primary Job Program: This initiative offers women the chance to learn skills like sewing, jewelry making, and leather working through daily workshops. These skills are complemented by guidance in resume building, job interviews, and career planning. Participants work 20-25 hours per week, earning $16 per hour, and gain the confidence and references needed to secure future employment.

Day Work Program: In response to Covid-19 and urgent needs, our Day Work Program was born. Women referred to us can work for seven days, earning $16 per hour each day, amounting to $560. This swift support is crucial for those facing emergency situations.

Your support, whether through monthly giving or a one-time gift, makes a tangible difference in the lives of Designed For Joy artisans. Together we are, building self confidence, refreshing resumes, and launching equipped women into the workplace.
