HSN (Home Shopping Network) Picks Up Raleigh-Made Handbag Brand Designed For Joy
Providing stability for women in crisis through immediate employment and support
RALEIGH, N.C., April, 3, 2023 — Designed For Joy is excited to announce its new Classic Collection handbag line will be featured on HSN in early October 2023. The Home Shopping Network provides a far-reaching opportunity to build more support and funding for women in crisis while spotlighting the organization's important mission and beautiful products hand-made by the Designed For Joy artisans. The chic new bag collection is also available on the Designed For Joy website and in the studio to shop.
The Classic Collection
The Classic Collection features ten handbag styles in eight bold colors and includes accessories such as wallets, a teddy bear-shaped snap wallet, and luggage tags. Designed For Joy's Executive Director and Founder, Cary Heise, will be on set at the HSN studio to highlight the collection and mission. "We are so excited about presenting our brand and mission on such a huge platform like HSN," explained Heise. "This initial order of 1,650 handbags for the fall showing on HSN will provide three months of work for the women of Designed For Joy. That's a lot of living wage work for women in crisis!"
Style Refresh for Classic Designs
Kristen Sydow, Designed For Joy Co-founder, Designer, and Fashion Institute of Technology Alumna, designed this new collection based on bags she wanted to own. "I drew inspiration from classic purse styles from the past and added features I am loving right now, like triangular shapes and fun hardware and straps."
Sydow described the bags as cheerful classics with a modern design twist. Each bag has an iconic name. One Designed For Joy artisan said picking just one bag is tough. "My favorites are the Birdie, the Myrtle, and the Ethel, but there are so many more choices."
Trade Show Intro Leads to HSN
Designed For Joy introduced this timeless bag line at the AmericasMart January 2023 Gift and Home Show in Atlanta, GA. The bags quickly won over current and new wholesale customers with their uniqueness and high quality. "We have been carrying Designed For Joy bags for years,” described a long-time Designed For Joy wholesale buyer. “These handbags will fly off your shelves!”

"From cutting the hide to artisans trimming, marking, and prepping for seamstresses to sew, and volunteers helping with zipper pulls, tabs, rivets, it truly is a team effort from start to finish."

The women who create our brand with us are those living at high risk for sex and labor trafficking and/or food and housing insecurities.
